Groove pipe fitting connection technology, also known as clamp connection technology, has become the leading method for connecting liquid and gas pipelines. Although this technology was developed later than in other countries, it quickly gained acceptance in the domestic market due to its advanced features. Since its introduction in 1998, groove connection technology has evolved and, over time, has gradually replaced traditional pipe connection methods like flanges and welding. The technology has matured, the market widely recognizes its benefits, and it is now actively supported by national laws and regulations.
The design specifications for automatic sprinkler systems recommend using groove connectors, wire buckles, or flanges for pipe connections. For pipes with diameters of 100mm or more, connections should be made using flanged or grooved connectors in sections.
The adoption of groove pipe fitting connection technology simplifies and accelerates the pipeline connection process, marking a significant advancement in pipe connection technology.
The groove-type pipe fitting only needs to install the standard parts supplied, and does not need welding and galvanizing, so the installation speed is significantly faster than the screw connection and flange connection, and the pipe automatic centering can be realized through the clamp, the construction efficiency can be greatly improved, and the pipe installation period can be effectively shortened.
The installation process utilizes groove machines and hole openers, which are specialized tools provided by the manufacturer to ensure precise machining of the pipe end groove. Additionally, the sealing ring within the clamp chamber tightly grips the pipe, creating a self-tightening seal. As internal pressure increases, the seal becomes even more secure. The nominal pressure of these pipe fittings can reach up to 2.5 MPa, ensuring a high level of reliability.
Groove-type pipe fittings require fewer bolts to tighten, making them easier to install. The process is straightforward, and disassembly and assembly only require a wrench. Workers can perform the tasks after basic training, eliminating the need for specialized skills.
The trench clamp connection method preserves the galvanized coating, eliminating the need for double installation processes such as re-galvanizing and transportation. This significantly reduces installation costs. The fast installation speed shortens the construction period, allowing the project to be completed and put into use sooner, generating economic benefits earlier.
The installation of trench pipe fittings does not require welding or open flame operations, which eliminates welding slag pollution and protects the galvanized layer on both the inside and outside of the pipe. This reduces environmental impact and prevents site contamination, making the process safer and more fire-resistant. Additionally, the groove connection helps reduce noise and vibration transmission due to the gap between pipe ends.
Grooved pipe fittings can be pre-assembled, and the bolts can be adjusted before locking, offering flexibility in installation. The connection sequence is not direction-dependent, allowing installation in tight or narrow spaces. For maintenance, only two joints need to be disconnected to clean or replace the pipe, simplifying the process and reducing downtime.
